NDIS funding

Speech practice that may fit your NDIS plan.

TalkAlong is a low-cost communication tool designed to build more independent speech. For many participants, that makes it a candidate for funding as assistive technology on an NDIS plan.

Why it matters now

When funded hours don't stretch far enough.

Speech pathologists are the experts, and most are in it because they care deeply about helping people communicate. But therapy works best when it's backed by frequent daily practice — and as plans are reviewed and therapy budgets are stretched, more families are looking for an affordable way to keep that daily practice going between sessions.

That's the gap TalkAlong is built to fill: consistent, dignified daily practice at a fraction of the cost of a therapy hour, so limited funding goes further and progress doesn't stall when hours are tight. It sits alongside your speech pathologist — an adjunct that carries the repetition, never a replacement for their expertise.

How TalkAlong may fit an NDIS plan

TalkAlong supports communication goals — being understood, asking for what you want, taking part in conversation — which are central to many participants' plans. As a low-cost app, it can often be considered low-cost assistive technology.

  • Goal-aligned. It directly supports the everyday communication goals written into many plans.
  • Low cost. Low-cost AT is generally simpler to claim than higher-cost items and often doesn't need a separate assessment or quote.
  • Reasonable & necessary. A recommendation from your speech pathologist that it's reasonable and necessary for your goals strengthens a claim.
  • Reduces reliance on billable hours. More effective practice between sessions can make therapy time go further.
Please confirm before you rely on this. Whether TalkAlong can be claimed depends on your individual plan, how it's managed (self-, plan- or agency-managed) and your goals.
