For families & carers

Help them practise — every day, without it all falling on you.

You know the practice between sessions matters. But finding the time — and the right way to do it, every day — is hard, and paying someone to do it is dear. TalkAlong carries the repetition for you, in a way your family member actually wants to come back to — for less than the cost of one therapy session a month.

It takes the pressure off you

The avatar provides the clear, consistent model — patiently, every single time. The endless repetition is its job, not yours — so you're free to sit alongside them and cheer them on while the app does the heavy lifting.

It protects their confidence

Every attempt at a hard word carries a little emotional risk. TalkAlong keeps the tone warm — a miss is just “let's try again” — so trying stays safe and they keep wanting to have a go.

It treats them as capable

Tell TalkAlong the person's age and the whole experience matches it — an adult is spoken to like an adult, and the pictures and visuals suit their age, not a toddler's. Real choices, dignity first, no babyish cartoons. They drive their own practice.

You can see it's working

Watch specific phrases get clearer over weeks, and log when they use a phrase for real out in the world — the moment that actually matters.

A communication passport you can hand on

When a new support worker, teacher or relief carer starts, they don't have to begin from scratch. Export a clear, printable summary of how your family member says things, so they're understood from the very first conversation.

Goals they can see

Set goals in their own words, each with a picture they pick — make one with AI, snap a photo of the real thing, upload your own, or keep a simple icon. Add a photo of them, too. On the home screen it all shows as clear picture boxes.

Who it can suit

Supporting a range of needs.

Families use structured home practice for apraxia of speech, Down syndrome, speech-sound difficulties and other communication needs. TalkAlong adapts to the words, goals and interests of the person practising — guided by their speech pathologist.

Important. TalkAlong is a practice tool, not a diagnosis or treatment, and the direct research is still developing — especially for adults. It works best alongside a speech pathologist who sets the goals and guides the practice.
